SUNDERLAND-BASED Brims Construction has won the race to build the £1.5m first stage of a luxury holiday home development.

Located on Burgham Park Golf Club, near Morpeth, the £15m Northumbrian Hills will be a four-star resort, consisting of 50 three-bedroom stone cottages, pavilion and leisure facilities.

Managing director William Kiely said Brims bid for the contract had been head and shoulders above the competition: “We decided to tender out the construction contract to ensure we got the best team for the job.

“This will be a four-star resort, so we need the build to go as seamlessly as possible.

“Brims stood out from the rest for its efficiency and professionalism. Plots have already been snapped up, so building work will commence as early as next month.”

Starting prices for the cottages will be £235,000.

Ian Clift, managing director of Brims, based on Quay West Business Park, said: “We are thrilled to be chosen for this project.

“We pride ourselves on our top-quality service and are excited to get the cottages under way.

“This is only the first stage of development.

“The next will see us build a two-storey pavilion, which will house bars, restaurants, a fitness suite, spa, swimming pool and much more.

“The final stage will be the creation of a world-class golf academy with teaching bays and a driving range, along with other sports facilities.”
