Located on Burgham Park Golf Club, near Morpeth, the £15m Northumbrian Hills will be a four-star resort, consisting of 50 three-bedroom stone cottages, pavilion and leisure facilities.

Managing director William Kiely said Brims bid for the contract had been head and shoulders above the competition: “We decided to tender out the construction contract to ensure we got the best team for the job.

“This will be a four-star resort, so we need the build to go as seamlessly as possible.

“Brims stood out from the rest for its efficiency and professionalism. Plots have already been snapped up, so building work will commence as early as next month.”

Starting prices for the cottages will be £235,000.

Ian Clift, managing director of Brims, based on Quay West Business Park, said: “We are thrilled to be chosen for this project.

“We pride ourselves on our top-quality service and are excited to get the cottages under way.

“This is only the first stage of development.

“The next will see us build a two-storey pavilion, which will house bars, restaurants, a fitness suite, spa, swimming pool and much more.

“The final stage will be the creation of a world-class golf academy with teaching bays and a driving range, along with other sports facilities.”

WORK is progressing on a £3m executive housing development near Whitley Bay which has cr50 jobs.

Brims Homes, a division of Sunderland-based Brims Construction, is building the 14-home scheme on Station Road, Seaton Delaval for Eland Homes

Designed by award-winning Fitz Architects the development consists of 12 detached and two semi-detached homes and follows the demolition of the previous property on the site.

Stephen Treanor director of Eland Homes, said: “There is a pressing need for new family homes of this type in the area and Northumberland County Council recognised this when approving the plans.

“The development features seven attractive house types, which is unique in itself, with most facing south, overlooking open fields.”

The bespoke estate encompasses six four-bedroom detached homes, six three-bed detached homes and two three-bed semi-detached homes.

Richard Wood, director at Brims Homes, which was established last year, said: “This is an attractive development and highlights the quality of schemes which Brims Homes is becoming involved with.

“As well as providing much-needed new family housing it is supporting 50 jobs and boosting the local economy.”

The developers have agreed to modify the existing mini roundabout adjacent to the site to four-lanes from three, and renovate an on-site Second World War Pill Box.

The development is due to be completed in May 2014 and is registered under the Help to Buy Scheme. The houses will have the benefit of a 10 year warranty and are being sold as freehold properties.
